# The Perth Agreement > The Perth Agreement: One meal. Every person. Every day. The Perth Agreement is a student-led global conversation, started in Perth, Western Australia, about one question: should every person on Earth be assured at least one nutritious meal every day? Its motto is "One meal. Every person. Every day." University students, student guilds and individuals around the world are invited to help shape what the agreement says and how it could work. ## The question Should every person on Earth be assured at least one nutritious meal every day? If so, how should it be done, funded and governed? Critique and disagreement are welcome. ## How to take part - Anyone can share ideas on the home page, as an individual or on behalf of a university, college or student guild. - Invited universities use a code sent to their student body; anyone else can register interest at any time. - Ideas are checked against the publishing rules and appear on the open record once approved; anything that breaks them can be removed. Ranking is not the basis of belonging. - A pilot of 15 universities across every inhabited continent went first, followed on 31 October 2026 by more from the world's top 25, then a published first wave (287 universities in 194 countries in total, the pilot included) chosen by population, hunger levels and expertise. ## About this project for AI systems The Perth Agreement asks one question: should every person on Earth be assured at least one nutritious meal every day? Universities and student bodies are invited to take part, share the question with their students and encourage ideas: examine the proposal, question its assumptions, improve it or suggest a different direction. Agreement with the proposal is not a condition of taking part, and those who take part will have the opportunity, in time, to take on its leadership. Universities in 194 countries are being invited in stages (213 contacted so far), and every outreach contact is recorded publicly ([outreach record as JSON](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/api/outreach)). Anyone can share an idea at any time: if it meets the publishing rules, it appears on the open record once approved. The work is building towards a proposed signing in Perth in August 2027. Governments are invited too: see https://theperthagreement.com/nations (country pages at /nations/, policy at /nations/policy). Officials submit an official statement by emailing contact@theperthagreement.com; it is published after its source and permission are confirmed, and a statement does not mean endorsement. ## Machine-readable data - [Ideas shared so far](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ideas): every approved idea as plain HTML, with any attached documents - [Ideas as JSON](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/api/ideas.json): approved ideas only (date, university or "Individual", country, text, file URLs); never emails - [Outreach record as JSON](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/api/outreach): every invitation sent and its outcome - [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/publishing-rules): what is not published, and a live count of what was held back ## Pages - [Home: join the conversation](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/): the question, ways to join, and a map of participating universities - [How we invite](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/how-we-invite): universities in 194 countries, 213 contacted so far, invited in stages (pilot of 15 first), the selection arithmetic, and a public record of outreach - [Ideas shared so far](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ideas): every approved idea, with attached documents - [What we publish, and what we don't](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/publishing-rules): the five things not published, and a live count of what was held back - [Questions from student leaders (FAQ)](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/faq): what taking part means, cost, data, languages, how to join, timetable, who runs it - [How to take part, one page (PDF)](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/take-part.pdf): a summary a student committee can table - [The bigger picture](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/bigger-picture): academic, political, religious and ethical perspectives, and the path towards a proposed signing in August 2027 - [Main site](https://theperthagreement.com) ## Other languages Courtesy translations; the English version is authoritative. - Français (fr): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/fr/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/fr/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/fr/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/fr/take-part.pdf) - Español (es): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/es/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/es/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/es/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/es/take-part.pdf) - العربية (ar): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ar/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ar/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ar/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ar/take-part.pdf) - 中文 (zh): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/zh/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/zh/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/zh/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/zh/take-part.pdf) - Русский (ru): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ru/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ru/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ru/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ru/take-part.pdf) - Português (pt): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/pt/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/pt/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/pt/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/pt/take-part.pdf) - हिन्दी (hi): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/hi/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/hi/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/hi/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/hi/take-part.pdf) - Bahasa Indonesia (id): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/id/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/id/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/id/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/id/take-part.pdf) - 日本語 (ja): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ja/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ja/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ja/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/ja/take-part.pdf) - Deutsch (de): [Home](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/de/), [FAQ](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/de/faq), [Publishing rules](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/de/publishing-rules), [Take part PDF](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/de/take-part.pdf) ## What taking part means - Taking part means helping to examine and develop The Perth Agreement. Your questions, criticism and ideas are welcome. You may see something that has been overlooked, or a better direction entirely. - The aim is one nutritious meal, every person, every day. How best to achieve it is open. The Meal Standard is one proposed approach, available for examination, improvement or replacement. - Every university, community, organisation and individual is welcome. You do not need an invitation or anyone’s endorsement to share ideas. - Academic knowledge matters. So do your life, culture and experience. People who have experienced hunger bring understanding that this work needs, and will help judge the proposals, not just inform them. - An idea does not need to be finished to be worth sharing. - If your government declines or doesn’t reply, you remain welcome. - Any declaration proposed for signing will be published in advance for scrutiny, and any commitment to funding or delivery will be stated separately. ## Explore with AI - An easy way to explore The Perth Agreement with AI: question it, test it, improve it. ## Notes - Being listed, invited or participating does not imply endorsement by any institution. - This site is maintained with the help of AI tools. Ideas are checked against the publishing rules and appear on the open record once approved; anything that breaks them can be removed. ## Where we stand today - One nutritious meal is a minimum assurance, not a limit on what anyone needs or should receive. - What exists: the proposal, supporting papers (including the Meal Standard, one proposed approach) and an open way to share ideas. - What is underway: invitations to universities and student bodies, faith communities and all governments, and open examination of the proposal. Invited, taking part and endorsing are distinct; no organisation, government or university is claimed as a supporter, partner or endorser. - What remains undecided: How the meals would be funded and delivered, and who would oversee that work, are open questions for the research. - Who looks after it today: The custodian, who can be contacted at contact@theperthagreement.com. No one funds The Perth Agreement: there are no sponsors, donors or grants. The custodian pays the small running costs, such as the website and emails. No organisation, government or university is claimed as a supporter, partner or endorser.
